Hawthorns Primary School number crunchers celebrate maths week
By Jon NurseFebruary 12, 2013
Three blind mice, musketeers and wise monkeys scampered into school for some number crunching fun.
Pupils at The Hawthorns Primary School were counting their blessings as they celebrated a maths week.
On Friday creative youngsters dressed up to a number theme. There wasn’t a calculator in sight, but instead an old-fashioned abacus and a cheery dice.
Teachers said the children had a great time and the week was a success in getting the pupils to engage with mathematics.
During the week problem solving pupils dived into workshops, scratched their heads over a sweet estimation competition and solved puzzles based on numbers worn by staff.
