Nelson visits South Lake Primary

December 18, 2012

Pupils met a caring canine after their creative efforts raised close to £800 for Dogs for Disabled.

Fundraisers at South Lake Primary School in Campbell Road, Woodley, voted to support the charity and held colouring, drawing and internet competitions in October.

The week of events raised £795.41 which was collected in a visit from a guide dog. Headteacher Pauline Lamb said: “The children were delighted that as a result of their actions a VIP – Nelson the Labrador – came to our assembly.”

The children learned that Nelson helps his client by opening and closing doors and putting washing in and out of the machine.
