Long-serving Bulmershe head Peter Lewis to retire

By Jon Nurse
October 10, 2012

A long-serving headteacher in Woodley will retire on New Year’s Eve after 34 years in the profession.

Peter Lewis, who has been headteacher of The Bulmershe School for 15 years, will retire this winter.

The school, in Chequers Way, has seen a 20 per cent rise in pupils gaining five or more A* to C GCSE grades, including English and maths, over the last three years.

Emma Reynolds, the current deputy headteacher at Highdown School in Reading, will take Mr Lewis’s place in January.
