More than 400 people sign Earley crossing petition

By Julie Spencer
October 09, 2012

Campaigners calling for a crossing so children can walk to school safely in Earley have presented a petition to councillors.

Anthony Vick and mum Sylvia Reid presented the 427-signature document demanding a crossing in Kilnsea Drive, Lower Earley, to Wokingham Borough Council at its meeting on Thursday, September 20.

Mr Vick, said: “Ask almost any parent of young children and they’ll tell you how dangerous it can be crossing Kilnsea Drive with young children.

“Children have to cross it almost every day on their way to school and the park, that’s why we were more than willing to help parents when they asked us to do something and make the road safer.” Families would like the crossing to be situated close to the Hornbeam Drive turn

   Why?

Unless I'm seeing things there's a pedestrian traffic light controlled crossing just 100 metres away by the shopping are/park

This crossing is desperately needed, a big thank you to everyone who signed.

If you missed the chance to sign our petition please write in by email to Wokinghamdirect@wokingham.gov.uk and tell them how you feel, asking for the email to be forwarded to the Officer dealing with the petition.
