Roald Dahl Day at Emmbrook Infants

By Julie Spencer
October 08, 2012

The tales of Roald Dahl came off the page and on to the stage when actor Anthony Pedley visited Emmbrook Infants School.

The actor, who has played the BFG three times, tours schools performing A Taste of Dahl, which tells children about the author, his life and the themes in his books.

His show also includes extracts of all the famous stories to encourage a love of reading in his audience.

Jaime Barrett, school secretary, said: “He was amazing and we will be booking him again.”

Mr Pedley’s performance for the school on Wednesday, September 26, was followed by Dahl day where pupils came dressed as characters.

Mrs Barrett added: “We didn’t have a competition as everybody made such a big effort.

“Our head Mrs Clarke painted her face orange and came as an oompa loompa which the children loved. We had plenty of Matildas, witches and a Mr Twit with a beard with lots of nasty things stuck in it.”
