Wokingham GCSE results: Waingel's College

August 31, 2012

Top results at Waingels College made this year’s crop of students the college’s highest achievers yet.

All pupils passed their exams, giving the college a 100 per cent pass rate, with 91 per cent achieving five or more A* to C grades and 68 per cent achieving A* to Cs including maths and English.

Kieran Slade was delighted with his results, which included seven A*s and three As, that take him one step closer to his dream of becoming a doctor.

“I’m thrilled with my results because they mean I’ll now be able to get into the right unis,” Kieran said. “I want to go to the University of Birmingham to study medicine.”

Kieran will go to Reading Boys School to study A-levels in maths, chemistry, biology and physics. He added: “It’s nice to think it’s all over for now and time to relax.”

Charlotte Hayes, 16, who wants to study veterinary science at university, gained four A*s, seven As, one B and a distinction in IT.

She said: “I’m so pleased. I didn’t think I could end up being in the top 10 from the school – I just wanted to do my best.

Headteacher Ann Keane-Maher said: “These are a stunning set of results. The students and their teachers have exceeded all expectations.”
