Reading Girls' app success
July 23, 2012
Tech-savvy pupils at Reading Girls’ School have won a national competition to design a smartphone app.
Shreya Gurung, Kanchan Gurung, Urooj Hussain, Zobia Yasi and Tahreem Ali beat 40 schools in the competition run by Apps For Good to develop an app to solve a problem in their community.
Each of the IT brains behind the app was presented with a certificate and a laptop computer.
The winning app, called RMBme, helps students to remember important items during the busiest times of their studies and exams.
The app will be developed with computer firm Dell over the coming term and will eventually go live for anyone to download to their smartphone or tablet device.
