Winnersh Primary expansion plans up for approval
May 30, 2012
Plans for a temporary classroom at a Winnersh school to cope with increased pressure for places could get the green light tonight.
Winnersh Primary School in Greenwood Grove has submitted a planning application for a double modular classroom for the new school year.
The plans go before Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee at a meeting at its civic offices in Shute End at 7pm.
The classroom would be located at the rear of the school building and allow an extra form of entry to be taken for seven years.
The school has a capacity of 420 pupils, with 418 on roll this January. The proposal will increase the number of pupils to 457.
A proposal for a new school building with parking and drop-off zone and play areas, along with an extension to existing buildings, was withdrawn in March.
Plans were shelved after concerns over sound and increased traffic. The council is looking for a long-term solution to ease increasing pressure for primary school places in the borough.
