Crazies Hill pupils dress up for World Book Day

By Sally Bryant

Harry Potters asked Where’s Wally? and Captain Hook was behind the headteacher’s desk when Crazies Hill Primary School finally wound up its book week.

The school had to postpone its Friday funday because of snow earlier last month but on February 24 pupils made up for it with a flourish.

All 84 pupils and the staff dressed up as their favourite book characters. Traditional nursery rhyme figures were side by side with today’s heroes and headteacher Eileen Holmes was a swashbuckling Captain Hook.

As well as dressing up, the Crazies Hill children turned plenty of pages. Every time they finished a story, they popped a token in the beak of a toy chicken in the hall and they hit their target of 150 by the end of the book week challenge.
