Artistic talents shaping up at St Paul's Junior

March 18, 2010

St Paul's Junior children showcased their artistic talents at shape and layer showcase earlier this month.

The pupils held an arts event at the school in Oxford Road, Wokingham, on Saturday, March 6, to showcase dance and artwork.

The idea for the day came from the school’s involvement with a project run last year by Maiden Erlegh School in Earley.

Artist John Lockhart and dancer Keira Martin worked with the Year Three teachers and pupils to generate ideas and outline the project based on the symbolism of the Celtic triskele shape.

The staff developed and extended over the next three months through topic work on Anglo Saxons and art, music and PE.

The children were responsible for much of the choreography showcased at the event and generated a stunning array of 2D and 3D artwork exhibition in the gallery during the arts event. More than 200 visitors came to view the work and see the children perform.
