Your chance to quiz a climate scientist online

March 12, 2010

Confused about climate change?

Is it real?

Is the science reliable?

As part of National Science and Engineering Week The Walker Institue at the University of Reading is running an on-line blog where you can put your questions direct to the climate science experts.

The blog will be running Monday to Friday next week at www.walker-institute.ac.uk/quiz_a_climate_scientist/

   Holmium......the last figures that I saw said that just 26% of people believed in what I have termed 'the climate change religion'. We struggle to find many people that do believe in it....most people recognise that the whole thing is done in the name of goverment tax take! I read lots of things about the science , and I recognise 'science' that doesn't stack up as bulls*** ! If the 'problem ' is as serious as some people would have us believe , then governments would be doing serious things to combat it. I suspect that governments are just as sceptical as me really, it just doesn't suit them to say so.

Climate change Religion? I was unaware that people worshiped climate change.

I thought the common Sense party was meant to seek people’s views and represent those views. Seeing as the Common Sense party does not currently have a published Environment policy I am puzzled by your statement. You appear to have developed your opinion before the party you represent has developed its policy. That really is bad science and policy making on the hoof.

You are being offered an opportunity to further your understanding of the science which may aid you in developing your Environment policy. I suspect you need to take up that opportunity.

@LesMiserables

Very good question. Why don’t you put it to them? I suspect the answer will be something to do with the adversarial nature of the debate and having to change theories as more evidence comes to light. What they won’t tell you is the competition for research funding is currently so aggressive that headline grabbing research is more likely to win funding than equally important but less media friendly research.

   The science and technology has existed for a long time now to reduce emissions by a vast amount, but governments throughout the world choose to ignore it , in favour of raising taxes. In my view this makes the whole climate change 'religion' into a complete load of cobblers!
