Hawthorns Primary in expansion move

February 03, 2010

Staff at a Wokingham primary school hope to hear the sounds of success when planning bosses discuss its bid to build a new music and drama block tonight.

Proposals to install a log cabin-style building on land at Hawthorns Primary School in Northway will be discussed by the planning committee at Wokingham Borough Council.

The school has requested the additional building so it can press on with its plans to expand the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) room in the main building.

The existing music and drama facilities are to be surrendered in order for the school to provide its pupils with a larger food and science facilities, which are to be moved to allow the ICT room to be expanded.

Such changes, however, have left school bosses needing additional room for music, drama and physical education classes and has resulted in a new log cabin building being proposed.

The application, which is recommended for approval, will be discussed when the planning committee meets at Shute End at 7pm.
