Innovative Emmbrook Infants scoops two awards

February 01, 2010

The borough’s mayor helped celebrate an infant school’s double awards success.

Emmbrook Infant School in Emmbrook Road welcomed Councillor Barrie Patman, who discovered more about the innovative work the school is doing.

He also presented the school with two plaques to mark awards it received recently.

These are the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) challenge award and Information Communication Technology (ICT) Mark by Becta.

The NACE award was given for the quality of the work by the school to challenge and encourage pupils, including those with high abilities, to achieve their best.

The ICT award recognises the school’s success in developing strategic use of ICT.

Cllr Patman said: “Week on week, innovative work takes place in the school and its hard work and effort has been rightly rewarded with these two national awards.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to the whole school community, who have worked exceptionally hard to achieve such honours.”

Headteacher Emma Clarke said: “At Emmbrook Infant School we all work as a team and everyone works extremely hard to ensure all the children are receiving a high quality education.

“I am proud that our school has successfully gained two national awards and is such a wonderful, inclusive place to work.”
