£30m needed for third bridge idea

Council bosses have asked the Government for £30 million for a third bridge over the Thames which they say is vital to stop Wokingham’s economic prosperity stalling, faltering and dying.

Wokingham Borough Council revealed at a meeting on Thursday it has bid to the South East Regional Assembly (SERA) for the cash to fund the plan, supported by West Berkshire Council.

Reading Borough Council agrees the need for a third bridge but says it does not believe the cash will come from SERA.

Does anyone find it ironic that Wokingham, contstantly moaning about having to build houses it doesn't want, wants to persuade another council to do exactly that.

It seems nimbyism is acceptable for themselves, but not for anyone else.
