Town revamp bid crumbles

Victoria Corbett

The town’s £80 million Peach Place revamp has collapsed after a complete breakdown in communication between the developer and council bosses.

Wokingham Borough Council has announced it is taking back control of the Rose Street car park from Rock Investment Group after months of impasse.

Council bosses are now calling on other developers to express an interest in redeveloping Wokingham as a whole.

I'm not surprise this has fallen through! It was only a matter of time!! This is so frustrating because Wokingham need this development so badly, there are shops closing down daily, it will soon be a ghost town, or maybe if the council had their way they would fill the units up with Italian pizza and pasta restaurants!! NO more please! Makes me wonder who is to blame for this collapse, the council can't agree on anything!!!
