Whistle-blowing ‘encouraged’

A revised whistle-blowing policy has been produced by Wokingham Borough Council in the wake of serious malpractice by officers last year.

Two members of staff were sacked and another pair received disciplinary action follwoing an investigation into the council tenants' services department concerning the selection of contractors to carry out work on council-owned homes as well as the administration off invoices and breaches to the employee code of conduct and other internal policies.
