Rent a Bugatti Veyron for £12,500 a day

Speed demons with deep pockets can now hire the world’s fastest car for a mere £12,500 a day.

The 253mph Bugatti Veyron – which does 0-60mph in less than three seconds and is worth a whopping £810,000 – is available for rent from Prestige and Performance Car Hire in West Reading.

Petrolheads can hire the supercar for £45,000 for the weekend or £70,000 for a week, as long as they can also afford the £100,000 deposit.

Bosses at Prestige in Portman Road said the Veyron – one of just 25 in the world – has already been hired out eight times in the past year.

A businessman and a footie boss have been among the customers, and a Reading footballer has also made enquiries.

Owner Karl Holder told the Post: “This is the most prestigious and exciting road legal car in the world and because of that it commands a huge price tag.

“It has that unique speed and performance that people are prepared to pay a premium for.

“People want to take it out and drive down to St Tropez for the weekend to experience some luxury.”

Mr Holder said the Veyron – which averages just five miles to the gallon – is proving popular with foreign businessmen and Saudi princes, but there has been some local interest too.

“Most of our clients are based in London, but we have had enquiries from people in Caversham, Shinfield and so on,” he said.

“They love the idea of driving the Veyron – until they hear the price.

“We also had an inquiry from an agent representing a Reading footballer.”

But if you fancy a spin in this eight-litre engine monster, you will need more than just a boot full of hard cash.

“We are looking for the right type of clients,” Mr Holder said.

“The Veyron has a lot of power and it’s very dangerous.

“That’s why it is fitted with a tracking device so we know exactly what speed it is being driven at.

“If we are not happy with the usage then we will take it away from the client, as we had to do on one occasion.

“We often get youngsters inquiring about hiring it, but we won’t entertain that idea.”

Prestige leases the Veyron on behalf of a businessman who uses it as an investment when he is not driving it.

The car is kept in a secure location in the North and brought to the company’s garages in Reading on order.
