Met Office says October was coldest since 2003

New Met Office figures show October was the coldest since 2003.

The average temperature for the month is 8.2 degrees centigrade, which exactly the same as the average recorded nine years ago.

October was the 18th coldest since records began in 1910 and the coldest ever was in 1917 with an average of 6.6 degrees centigrade,

The warmest place recorded was a temperature of 18.8 degrees centigrade in Holbeach in Lincolnshire and the coldest was -7.8 degrees centigrade in Braemar in Aberdeenshire in Scotland.

The wettest day was in Ballpatrick in Antrim in Northern Ireland and the sunniest day was in St Athan in Glamorgan, Wales.
