Official opening of Finchampstead allotments tomorrow
October 11, 2012
Green-fingered people in Finchampstead can now grow their own as new allotments will be officially opened on Saturday.
Councillor Roland Cundy, chairman of Finchampstead Parish Council, will unveil the three-hectare Finchampstead Allotments at 10.30am.
Last year, the parish council secured leases on two adjacent patches of land in the south of the parish and the site now has rabbit and deer-proof fencing, parking areas and around 60 plots.
The allotment opened on September 1 and already has around 50 tenants.
The official opening will be followed by judging of a scarecrow competition organised by the Allotment Association, along with tea and cakes.
