Pin Up Pretties launch vintage glamour calendar
November 29, 2012
Three Reading women with an eye for vintage glamour have launched a stylish calendar to raise funds for a womens’ cancer charity.
The calendar girls are Georgina Coyle, 28, who runs Reading Vintage Fairs, photographer Catherine Hadler, 41, and make-up artist and hair stylist Amy Brandon, 26.
The trio’s love of vintage clothes gave them the inspiration to create The Pin Up Pretties calendar, which taps into the current vogue for the retro look and features glamorous pin-up models dressed in 1940s and 1950s clothing and accessories.
All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to the cancer support charity Look Good Feel Better which helps women to combat the visible side effects of cancer treatment,
Cancer therapy often has appearance-related side effects such as hair loss and changes to the skin. These can often affect self esteem and confidence at a time when a positive attitude is very important. Look Good Feel Better aims to give women sufferers a boost through free skin care and make up workshops.
The charity operates throughout the UK with the help of volunteers and support from leading companies and brands in the beauty industry.
The three women signed up 12 models who were willing to give their services for free and borrowed vintage cars from a local company.
Dressed in carefully selected items from Georgina’s vintage fair stall and using evocative locations such as the historic Basildon Park they created 12 glamorous images for each month of the calendar.
Georgina said: “I wanted to do some work for charity, so I asked my talented friends Cath and Amy to help out.
“One of my friends has been affected by cancer and Amy does voluntary workshops for Look Good Feel Better so that was the natural choice of charity to support. We’ve already had lots of pre-orders and, fingers crossed, we’re hoping it will really take off over the Christmas period.”
A special limited edition Christmas card featuring ‘Miss December’ has also been produced.
The calendar, priced £9.99, and Christmas cards can be bought at the Reading Vintage Fairs held monthly in Revolution in Station Road, or at selected shops in and around Reading including Frock & Roll in Watlington Street.
They can also be ordered online at the Reading Vintage Fairs website www.thereadingvintagefair.com which features sample pictures from the calendar.
