Get pampered for charity
February 25, 2010
Charity supporters can be pampered and contribute to a fundraising day being held at a Wokingham therapy clinic.
The Charity Therapy Day is being organised by Wokingham Complementary Therapy Clinic in Denmark Street on Saturday.
The event will raise funds for the Duchess of Kent House, which provides specialist palliative care services for adult patients in the area suffering from cancer or other life threatening illnesses, and Building for the Future, a Wokingham disabled children’s charity.
Money will also go to Cancer Active, which is a charity providing information to patients and carers on cancer prevention, support and holistic cancer care.
During the event, people will be able to experience 20 minute sessions in a wide range of therapies for £5 per session, with all proceeds going to the three charities.
Sessions available will include reiki, reflexology, shiatsu massage and acupuncture diagnosis.
The clinic will be open from 10am to 5pm.
Niki McGlynn, who owns the clinic, said: “It is not just us small business that suffer when money is short, it is those charities that are not so well known, but who provide such fantastic support, advice and care free of charge when we are in need.
“We all need to do our bit to help where we can.”
