New site is hoping to trim waists

September 18, 2009

A GP is hoping to show people how to keep their waists trim with a new website aimed at preventing heart disease and diabetes.

Dr Andrew Brewster, who works in NHS Berkshire West, has developed the Cut the Waist website, which aims to help people manage their weight.

The Reading GP said: “We have a skilled workforce in primary care but as healthcare professionals I still believe we can learn more about obesity.

“The philosophy behind all of my work, including Cut the Waist, is that appropriate patient education and training of fellow healthcare professionals, along with development of high quality NHS weight management services, will serve to raise awareness of obesity, improve care and ultimately reduce the burden of ill-health related to obesity.”
