Kate was top of the fashion stakes wearing an understated but graceful gunmetal grey gown by Yves Saint Laurent at Sunday’s Oscars.
“I just really liked it,” she said. “I just thought it was really elegant.
"I thought my mum would think it was really pretty, and that is why I wanted to wear it.
"It has been difficult to find the right balance of having a dress that’s fun to wear and that I also feel good wearing.
"Being on the red carpet is a privilege and you have a great time but I want to get it right.”
