Get in a spin for exercise
January 07, 2009
A ‘wheelie’ hi-tech way to exercise is being given a spin at Palmer Park Stadium.
The new My Ride system provides a workout similar to a spinning class but with added flexibility. Instead of instructor-led training at a set time, people can use the bikes whenever they like and set their own 30-minute workout at their own pace.
Each bike has a personal screen console, with 108 interactive workouts to choose from.
Users can choose from five virtual instructors and levels from beginner to professional.
The stadium now has 20 My Ride bikes installed in the new fitness area at the stadium. They are open to members and to anyone else on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Councillor Graeme Hoskin, Reading borough’s lead member for culture and sport, said: “As a council we’re determined to make sure there are great sports facilities in all parts of the town and this extra investment in Palmer Park is part of that.
“These new bikes will provide another great way to get fit and look and feel better.”
My Ride sessions are offered on a pay-as-you-go basis or alternatively included in the Reading Sport and Leisure Active Lifestyle membership.
