Celebrate the Thai New Year tonight

Dancers will be bringing colour and traditional costumes to encourage Reading diners to see in the Thai New Year in style.

The Thai Dance Academy in association with Chang Beer will be performing at the Art of Siam in Kings Walk this evening to celebrate Songkran, the Thai New Year, which runs during April.

Dancers will be performing at the restaurant at 7.40pm.

Geoff Tirrell, General Manager of Chang Beer UK, said: “With the Songkran activity we want to bring the warmth of Thai culture to the UK, whilst educating customers about the country’s traditions, which are so integral to our history as a brand.

“Working with the Thai Dance Academy is a great way to give customers a snap shot of our culture and provide them with added value, by bringing theatre to their dining experience.”

On the streets of Thailand they traditionally celebrate the new year by drenching each other with water to wash away the misfortunes of the last year.
