New landlords take over at the Duke's Head

A new husband and wife team has started pulling pints behind the bar at a Wokingham pub.

Julie and Adrian Taylor, pictured, are the latest landlady and landlord to put their names over the door of the Duke’s Head in Langborough Road. The pub has had multiple landlords in the last five years, however the couple hope to make the pub a centre for the community.

The couple held a painting party last month, giving the pub a fresh new look.

Brakspear brewery, which owns the pub, helped get the first phase of the project off the ground by offering the services of its business development manager Mat Aket and interior designer Stephanie Dennet.

The pub also has a new menu and the couple hope to make the Duke’s Head famous for its hog roast, at events such as Bank Holidays.

Mrs Taylor grew up in Wokingham and is a former head girl at The Emmbrook School in Wokingham.

If the brewery aren't going to do anything to help the landlords, how can it survive? There's been numerous new landlords over the years, most haven't lasted more than 3 months.

I feel for these guys, surely the writing is on the wall without further help. As a regular drinker in Wokingham, I don't go there as in the back of my head next time I do it'll be closed...
