Farmers' Market for Sandhurst

March 28, 2012

Locally produced food is coming to Sandhurst this summer when a new monthly Farmers’ Market starts.

The first market session will be held at Sandhurst Memorial Park in Yorktown Road on Sunday, June 10, between 9am and 12.30pm.

The new market has been organised by Councillor Paul Widdowson of Sandhurst Town Council and will be held once a month on a Sunday morning.

He said: “We’re so delighted at bringing the Farmers’ Market to Sandhurst.

“There are very few food shops in the town aside from the supermarkets so it’ll be great to bring a range of local-ish producers to town.

“There will be around 20 stalls when it starts, apart from the fish, most of them are within 30 or 40 miles.

“It’s all really good quality.”

Cllr Widdowson said he came up with the idea after seeing what the Farmers’ Market in Camberley offered to people there.

He added: “The people in College Town I pitched it to were very enthusiastic, as were the rest of the town council. I am so pleased at doing this, it’s what being a town councillor’s all about, bringing new things to people in the town.”

Completely agree CMA. I do not understand why they didn't move the market into the centre years ago! There's plenty of space!
Beef (off to Greggs to buy all the pasties before there's a panic there), Bracknell

Hope to have a look when it's open, see what's around. This is the kind of thing Bracknell Town Centre needs - out in the open as well, not inside a dark dingy windy building.
