Taste the world at Old Manor's beer festival

By Hugh Fort
March 14, 2012

Beer lovers can get on the ale trail and sup on some of the 50 casked beers from around the world at a town centre pub’s Beer Festival.

The festival is being held at The Old Manor in Grenville Road and the beers have been sourced from brewers in Russia, South Africa, Norway, America and Belgium.

The event also features beers from across the UK made with ingredients including honey, loganberries, grapefruit, treacle and chocolate.

It runs at the pub from today until Sunday, April 1, with all beers costing £2.25.

Ale enthusiasts can sup on such beers as Imperial Russian Stout, Murrikan Mild from America, Bitter from the Nogne O brewery and Pale Ale from Belgium.

The English beers include Pirate’s Gold, Spring Cottage Biscuit and Monkey Wrench.

As part of the festival the pub will also be serving 10 draught ciders including Fanny’s Bramble, The Governor and Boxing Dog.

Pub manager Ian Lynskey said: “The festival will give people the chance to enjoy a superb selection of British and international beers.

“We will be serving real ales from Russia and Norway for the first time. Many of the beers on offer have not been available in the pub before.

“The festival promises to be great fun and I am certain that customers at The Old Manor will enjoy themselves.”

Visitors will be able to sample the beers in three special third-of-a-pint glasses, costing the same as one pint, and tasting notes will be available.

It would have helped if the exact location name was right. It is Grenville Place not Grenville Road, that is in Maidenhead!

At the risk of contradicting the motion that a slightly superior ability to reverse vehicles into gaps between other vehicles is the only reason men still exist, as experts have claimed. I present to you that the clue is in the name, Dear Theresa. 'The Old Manor in Bracknell'.
