Miller & Carter steak their place in Reading

February 17, 2012

Managers of a new restaurant wanted to show they have a ‘steak’ in the town by inviting residents to a launch party.

Staff at Miller & Carter welcomed 300 guests, including local businesses and Reading Mayor Councillor Deborah Edwards, to the new venue on The Oracle Riverside.

They were among the first to try the Mitchells & Butlers-owned steakhouse, which has opened on the former Old Orleans site.

Guests were invited to sample a selection of tasters from the menu, which offers a wide range of fish, chicken and burgers as well as West Country steaks.

General manager Natalie Taylor said: “We’re very proud of our offer and we wanted to showcase our new restaurant as soon as possible and let the people or Reading experience what Miller & Carter is all about.

“The event was a great success with nearly 300 people attending and we have received lots of positive feedback already on both the outstanding level of service and premium quality dishes on the menu.”

Well I paid for my meal on Saturday so have no vested interest in praising this eatery other than to say the quality of the steaks we had were first class. The service was a little enthusiastic but we let them off that on the basis that it had just opened and they were trying to please.

Will definitely go back and interesting to see that restaurants are returning to a slightly more traditional offering rather than this kind of indefined 'fusion' thing.

Another free lunch and photo opportunity for the Mayor. It's a good gig, if you can get it.
