October 04, 2011

Playing conkers and tackling cankers are two of the attractions at the apple day in Mapledurham this weekend.

Cross Lanes Fruit Farm grows 50 different varieties of apple as well as a selection of pears. The Apple Day will be held at the farm on October 9, from 10am to 5pm.

As well as a chance to buy fruit not available in the supermarket, visitors can find out about how the apples are grown, go on guided walks around the orchard, and learn how to tackle pests and diseases in their own fruit trees.

Other attractions include children’s competitions, bee-keeping talks and sales of homemade produce. For further information visit www.crosslanesfruitfarm.co.uk
