Sixteen Berkshire pubs added to Good Beer Guide

By David Millward
October 04, 2011

Sixteen Berkshire pubs are new entries in the latest edition of the Good Beer Guide.

The 29th edition of the real ale drinkers’ bible says 33 different beers were brewed in the county in the last year by six breweries – one more than the previous year thanks to the creation of Bingham’s Brewery in Twyford.

The CAMRA guide features 4,500 pubs across Britain.

Apologies, I completely misread the article; as it says, 16 Berkshire pubs are NEW entries, meaning they weren't in last year's 2011 guide. Since most people don't buy a copy every year (because there aren't usually changes of about 30% of the pubs), it would be useful and interesting if the article had listed the changes. It really doesn't say much for the standard of journalism on the Post !

Just checked out the 2012 GBG, on sale at Waterstones Broad St (UK travel section). In fact there are 53 Berkshire pubs, I can only think the author was counting Reading & Mid Berkshire / West Berkshire ? Anyway, the Reading ones are: Foresters Arms; Nags Head; Zerodegrees; Hobgoblin; Retreat; Eldon Arms. The usual ones then, and probably about right. Two other favourites of mine are the Blagrave near the Market Square, and Hop lLeaf in Southampton St; great beer, atmosphere, and competitive prices.

Agreed, Mr Mop... More info please! Maybe you could consider telling us which pubs they are, and perhaps get the Landlord/Ladies reactions to the inclusion?

Great article. Tells us which pubs were added, where we can get a Good Beer Guide and where we can go to find out more information.

In other news: "Today some stuff happened, somewhere"
