Don't miss food monthly

June 24, 2009

Writer and broadcaster Matthew Fort talks about the importance of local food and about our award winning monthly magazine in our video.

Don't miss out on your copy of food monthly which is free with today's Reading Post

Editor Hilary Scott writes: When Paul Clerehugh filed his article on picnics I immediately sent it over to my younger sister as I knew she would wallow in the nostalgia of it all.

She emailed back asking if Tree Tops orange squash was the one with the big white lid.

Of course it was – and Blue Riband biscuits and weak Tree Tops were a staple of our family picnics too.

Anyway whatever you like to take on a picnic, we’ve some great ideas for home-made goodies or shop-bought products.

The stars of our picnic pictures, though, have to be Paul Clerehugh’s delightful daughters and that gorgeous Wolseley...

Elsewhere we talk to the chef at the newly opened Hilton Hotel in Reading, new Michelin star winner Michael Wignall and Alison Hepworth has been down to Stanlake Park vineyard for a lesson in wine.

The list of recipes we have this month is sumptuous, from asparagus to crayfish, apricot tarte tatin to brownies, pork pies to burgers – and Antony Worrall Thompson takes the heat out of summer dinner parties for you. Let’s just hope there’s lots of heat around for those parties and picnics!
