Reading jobless figures remain unchanged

April 20, 2012

The percentage of the Reading population claiming jobless benefits remained the same last month, according to the latest figures.

There was a slight drop in the number of people drawing Job Seekers Allowance in the borough in March, at 3,879, but not enough to change the 3.6 per cent claimant figure.

West Berkshire saw a slight drop in its claimant rate from 1.9 per cent to 1.8 per cent while Wokingham remained the same at 1.4 per cent.

There is more adjustment needed for people stuck in part-time and any work is better than nothing jobs.
