Details of new rise in the minimum wage

The minimum wage went up for people of all ages from Friday, October 1.
The minimum hourly wage for workers over 21 changed to £5.93, for those aged 18 to 20 it is £4.92 and under-18s can expect a minimum of £3.94.
Apprentices under 19, or 19 and over but in their first year of their apprenticeship, are entitled to at least £2.50.
Employers who do not pay the correct minimum wage could get an automatic penalty of up to £5,000.
