If you are thinking about working with children, or if you are already qualified and would like to improve your career prospects Chiltern Training Ltd are offering a range of training options.
With over 400 students currently studying at their centres in Bracknell, Newbury and Reading, Chiltern Training is the largest independent childcare training provider in Berkshire.
They also have a new fully equipped training centre in Swindon town centre.
Based in the centre of Reading, only two minutes from the train station, they offer courses in childcare for every age at every level, from baby sitting to management.
Chiltern Training offers the national apprenticeship framework in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.
The apprenticeship programme has traditionally covered by four days a week with a local nursery, earning a minimum of £95 per week.
For the more practical students, this provides excellent hands on experience, whilst the knowledge and theory is delivered on a day release course at our superbly equipped training centre in Reading town centre.
For those who prefer a more college based approach, they offer an apprenticeship which involves more time at college and less in the workplace.
This is called the Programme Led Apprenticeship .
Candidates may be eligible for an Educational Maintenance Allowance.”
For those who already have experience of working with children, or have completed their apprenticeship at Level 2, Chiltern offer an advanced apprenticeship aimed at young people aged 17-24 been aimed at school leavers and covers the National Vocational Qualification at Level 2 in addition to the Technical Certificate and Key Skills. An advanced apprenticeship is also available which covers the NVQ Level 3, technical certificate and relevant key skills.

Students have the ability to choose the best course of study for them as an individual. For school leavers the traditional employer led apprenticeship programme is years. You can study for this by the traditional day release method, or for those who wish, evening courses are available at settings in Newbury and Bracknell, in addition to the Reading based evening course. For those who really wish to fast-track their qualification, Chiltern have developed their own excellent e-learning programme.
This enables learners to receive and return work on line and can be used as a stand alone study method or can be integrated with day release and evening classes.

For those who are aged 16-18 but not quite ready for employment, we offer a pre-apprenticeship programme.
This is a 12 week introduction to the childcare sector and includes the first aid certificates, in addition to careers advice and job search skills. The next course is starting on Tuesday 16th February.
