Scarey Carey is no Monroe

November 06, 2003

The Terrence Rattigan play is best known for its 1957 screen version, The Prince And The Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe.

Carey will begin rehearsals for the show in January – and she’ll need plenty of them if her performance in the decidedly dull Glitter is anything to go by. Let’s just say – Marilyn she ain’t.

British producer Bill Kenwright is keeping tight-lipped about the identity of the leading man – probably because no-one fancies going anywhere near it.

“Mariah wants to get rid of the glitz. She wants to be an actress. She’s not this diva,” he says.

So she’ll be carrying all her own bags and cooking all her own meals then, will she?
