New 50s rock and roll evening launches in Wokingham

By Caroline Cook
March 08, 2013

Teddy boys and girls in poodle skirts will be lindy hopping into Wokingham for a new 50s rock and roll evening.

The 3Rs Club, which has been running in Reading for 22 years, is launching a new retro night at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre on Saturday.

Rhythm Hound DJ will serve up a slice of 50s rock’n’roll and people will be able to doo-wop and shimmy their way around the dance floor.

The night starts at 7.30pm and there will be a short rock’n’roll jive class from 7.45pm to 8.15pm, followed by dancing until midnight.

Entry is £6 including the class.

What has the shimmy to do with 1950s dance? Surely it is a dance of the 1920s.

Its a pity this evening isn't being held in the centre of town instead of in a place away from all public transport.
