A sitcom star will be adding a touch of magic to The Hexagon pantomime this year when she steps into the shoes of the Enchantress.
Vicky Michelle, who starred in 80s sitcom ’Allo ’Allo!, has been announced as the latest cast member for Beauty and the Beast.
She will join children’s favourites Justin Fletcher and Jolyon Dixon who are back for the third year in a row.
“I am really excited to be working with Justin Fletcher who is an absolute legend,” said Vicky.
“I am also thrilled to be working with Imagine Theatre this year. They have a reputation for putting on fantastic family shows."
Vicky is best known for her role as Yvette in ’Allo ’Allo! but she has also appeared in Emmerdale and Celebrity Mastershef, as well as taking to the stage around the country.
“We are thrilled to have Vicki on board to play the Enchantress this year,” said Steve Boden, who will be directing Beauty and the Beast.
“She is a brilliant performer with great pantomime background and we know she will be a real asset to the production.”
Vicky has already appeared in more than 20 pantomimes during her career, playing Aladdin, the genie, the fairy godmother and a few wicked queens.
Sarah Cox, manager of The Hexagon, said: “The cast for this year’s show is shaping up to be one of the best.
“It is fabulous that we have a new face on board in Vicki alongside some of our favourites from previous years in Justin Fletcher and Jolyon Dixon.”
The character of Belle is still to be cast, along with the junior chorus and Imagine Theatre are on the search for three teams of babes to join the production.
Children aged between eight and 16 are being invited to audition for the show on Sunday, July 8.
The auditions take place at Reading Town Hall in Blagrave Street from 9.30am.
Children taking part need to wear comfortable clothing and dancing shoes.
Successful auditionees will be called back later in the afternoon with the decision made that day. For more details of the auditions visit www.imaginetheatre.co.uk.
