Kenton Theatre lays on the laughs

A Henley theatre is launching is autumn season with a hilarious comedy.

John Godber’s April In Paris will be performed by Brook Street Productions at the Kenton Theatre on Saturday.

The play focuses on a couple from Yorkshire who win a romantic break to the city of love.

It’s their first trip abroad and the married pair have to grapple with French cuisine, wrestle with the phrase book and fend off would be muggers on the Metro.

The experience is to have a profound effect on the way the young couple perceive the world around them, once they return home.

Brook Street Productions, based in Watlington, are a new theatre group and this is their first full-length play.

The cast includes the company’s founders Amanda-Jane Short (who also directs) and Jonathan Niton.

Jonathan was a pupil Reading Blue Coat School, where he developed his passion for the performing arts and has performed with a wide range of local amateur dramatic groups, including the Sonning Village Players, Woodley Theatre and the Henley Players.

He is now a professional actor.

Brook Street Productions say they aim to engage local audiences that want to see excellence, and get value for their money, while having an enjoyable night out.

There are two performances on Saturday, September 3, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
