You don’t need your passport to visit the Big Apple next week. Phil Creighton explains why

Anyone wanting to visit the Big Apple next week won’t have far to travel – they only have to go to Henely-on-Thames.

Members of Woodley Light Operatic Society will be treading the boards of the Kenton Theatre as they present their production of the much-loved musical Guys and Dolls.

The full-cast show follows a desperate gambler as he seeks funds to finance a new venture. But one thing he hasn’t bet on is love – his life changes not on the turn of a card but on the turn of a door, when the beautiful Sarah Brown, leader of a Christian mission band, enters into the gambling mayhem.

Guys and Dolls is a 50s’ musical by Frank Loesser, and is packed with plenty of memorable melodies including Luck Be A Lady Tonight, If I Were A Bell and Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat.

Woodley’s show has been directed by Steve Atkins, choreographed by David Parsonson with musical direction by Amy Bingham.

The show’s organisers promise that it will be a wonderful evening’s entertainment.

-Curtain up is on Tuesday, June 15 and it runs until Saturday, June 19. Tickets cost £14 and are available from the WLOS box office on 0870 770 5899.
