Child sought to star in Hexagon show

January 27, 2010

A small child with a big acting talent is being sought to play the part of the evil shrunken granny in a stage production of George’s Marvellous Medicine.

The Roald Dahl classic is being produced by the Birmingham Stage Company for The Hexagon and auditions for the part are being held on Wednesday, February 3.

Two girls will be cast who are between seven and 10 and who are between 4ft and 4ft 4in tall. The performances will be from Wednesday, February 17, to Saturday, February 20, at 2pm and 7pm daily, except Friday when there is only a 2pm show.

Julia Cook, marketing officer at The Hexagon, said: “It is an exciting prospect that will be great for the local dance and drama schools to get involved in.”

To apply, contact the box office on (0118) 960 6060. There will be no payment for the role.

I think this is a bit sexist. Why can the small child not be a little boy?
