Mall gal wins Has Reading Got Talent?
By Linda FortAugust 20, 2012
A real Broad Street Mall gal won the title at the Has Reading Got Talent finals yesterday.
Abi Bowden, 22, of Farringdon Court, East Reading heard about the competition when she was working in Card Factory at the store in the shopping centre.
And the singer/guitarist is about to change jobs and move on to work in the new Metro bank in the shopping centre.
So she felt at home when she sang her acoustic version of the Cream classic Sunshine of Your Love to the crowd at the mall yesterday.
Superstar finalist Nathan James, X factor finalist Danyl Johnson and Sir John Madekski were among the judges at the finals.
Abi was awarded £1,000 which she plans to spend on a music system so she can do more gigging around Reading.
In second place was 13-year-old Krystal Styles, a gymnastic dancer from Swindon and in third was Jo Strough, 20, a rapper from Earley.

As someone who was at the Broad Street Mall yesterday, I do think a special mention should go to the Jersey Guys - it was clear that they were the audience's favourite and I heard many people around me stating them as their preferred act. The crowd as the Broad Street Mall visibly grew after they started as passing shoppers stopped to enjoy their performance. The guys were total professionals, too professional for Reading's Got Talent perhaps?
