Charvil concert raises money for Ronald McDonald charity

Solo singers raised their voices for charity in a concert at Charvil.

The pupils of local music teacher Suzanne Newman performed popular, folk, opera and musical theatre renditions at Charvil Village Hall on Saturday, April 28.

The 11 singers each completed two songs in the evening that raised £200 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. “They did remarkably well,” Miss Newman said. “About 50 people came along and for some it was their first ever solo performance. The youngest was about 12, while the oldest was in her early 70s.”

The charity raises funds to provide accommodation for parents with children in hospital.

Nearly all the students will be competing at the Tilehurst Festival on Saturday, May 12.
