Artwork feast on the menu

Fine art and fine dining came together at the opening night of an exhibition in Reading.

Paintings by two Reading artists went on display in an exhibition called A Feast For The Eyes, now running at the Pepe Sale restaurant in Queen’s Walk.

The works are by Evgeniya Sharp, a Russian living in Reading who paints the female form, and Kristine Nason, who paints animals, mainly horses.

Their works will be on display until April 16, and 10 per cent of sales and commission money will go to Diabetes UK.

One of Reading’s most popular and established eateries, the award-winning Pepe Sale is a Sardinian restaurant owned by Toni and Sam Sale.

Mr Sale said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to allow our patrons to view and buy the works of two such talented artists.

“We have had general artwork on the walls since opening but when we were approached by Evgeniya and Kristine we jumped at the opportunity to use our wall space to promote something new and different.

“The possibility of supporting Diabetes UK was a great attraction, too.

“This is definitely something we will be following up on and we already have ideas for showing other collections in the future.”

Pepe Sale is at 3 Queen’s Walk, Reading, close to The Hexagon theatre.
