Woking's Soirées at Breinton season to begin
August 08, 2012
Woking classical music society Soirées at Breinton has announced its new season of recitals which start in September.
The recitals are performed in a private home with audiences of around 50 guests presenting a unique experience to listen and interact with professional musicians.
“We aim to present the highest standard of music but also try to make our events intimate, informal and enjoyable, with the added attraction of time to enjoy some light snacks and wines during the interval with other Members”, said society president Kumi Smith-Gordon.
The season opener takes place on Saturday September 22 at 7.30pm when the Russian husband and wife duo Natalia Lomeiko and Yuri Zhislin will perform works for violin and viola including Prokofiev and Handel.
Lomeiko has won prizes at numerous international events including the Menuhin and Stradivari competitions while Zhislin was BBC Radio Two Young Musician. Together, they have performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras and as soloists at the Wigmore Hall and at festivals around Europe.
Their CD of violin duos by Halvorsen and Bruni was recently released by Naxos and was “enthusiastically recommended to all types of listeners” by Fanfare magazine.
Both artists are also professors at London’s Royal College of Music.
The society’s subsequent six recitals for the season include pianist Piers Lane on November 10, tenor Njabulo Madlala on February 9 February and 2010 BBC Young Musician of the Year and pianist Lara Melda on April 13.
Breinton Soirées attractive set up makes the concerts extremely popular and therefore advance booking is highly recommended.
Tickets for the next Soirée can be purchased online for £20 each at www.breinton.com where full details can also be found on the complete season. For further information, email email@example.com or call 0778 905 2028.
