Levi Roots to spice up Reading tomorrow
March 01, 2010
A red-hot event comes to Reading tomorrow as Levi Roots – aka Mr Reggae Reggae Sauce – showcases his recent album and love for Caribbean cooking.
‘Dragon slayer’ Levi Roots was launched into business after a successful appearance on BBC2’s Dragon’s Den in 2007 with his spicy sauce.
The condiment, a family secret passed down from Levi’s grandmother, hit Sainsbury’s shelves within six weeks.
After an accomplished range of sauces, cookery books and a television series the inventor now hopes to pursue his other great passion – music.
Mr Reggae himself will be spicing up the scene at The University of Reading, which will be the first stop on his debut UK tour to promote recent album Red Hot and new single Cool Me Off.
After a MOBO nomination for Best Reggae Singer in 1998, Levi has two credible reggae albums under his belt and a background of performances with great artists such as James Brown and Maxi Priest.
Levi will be at the 3sixty students union venue, cooking spicy mackerel with green bananas as well as playing tracks from his new album with his band.
