Mo's farewell for Danyl Johnson

X Factor sensation Danyl Johnson dropped in to see his former students to say farewell – and collected a surprise leaving present.

The Arborfield singer returned to Mo’s Dance and Drama School in Coley last Saturday, where students presented him with a book highlighting his journey through the talent show.

He is currently rehearsing for the X Factor tour which kicks off in Liverpool on Monday.

Founder of the school Mo Cleaver said: “He was genuinely surprised as we followed him through the weeks on X Factor and took pictures of events that went on in Reading at the time.

“We got hold of pictures from the show after pentahotel gave us the money to buy them.”

The commemorative book, which included cuttings from the Reading Post and judges’ comments right from Danyl’s first audition, stated on the back cover: “To be continued…”

In a mobile phone text to Mrs Cleaver after his visit, Danyl, 27, said: “I just want to say thank you so much to you and everyone at Mo’s for your support.

“It has taken my breath away how proud you are of me. I am a Mo’s boy.

“The book is so amazing, I can’t believe you went through all that effort for little me.”

Mrs Cleaver added: “He’s lovely, he’s just such a nice guy and is so down to earth.

“What you see is what you get with Dan and he was genuinely surprised with the book.

“While here he spent time chatting to the kids and they were thrilled to see him.

“As he said, he is a Mo’s boy through and through, but I think he’s a great ambassador for young people and it’s great for Reading as there’s so much talent here.”
