This year sees celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Motown sound – and you’ve got the chance to party this Wednesday.

The birthday party will be held at The Hexagon as the How Sweet It Is tour comes to town for a one-night only knees-up.

The show celebrates and recreates all the vibes and music that originated in Detroit in the 1950s along with other legendary artists from the period, and takes you on a musical journey through the golden Tamla Motown days of the 60s and 70s.

Focusing heavily on The Four Tops and The Temptations, the two-hour spectacle features a non-stop jukebox of Motown hits, including Reach Out I’ll Be There, My Girl, Treat Her Like a Baby and The Same Old Song.

Legends who will be paid tribute to include Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers, The Four Tops, Diana Ross, Martha Reeves and The Jacksons. The live musical spectacular is backed and supported by its own eight-piece band, The Peter Brent Orchestra.

The toe-tapping musical fun starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £16.50 or £18.50 and can be booked by calling (0118) 960 6060 or logging on to www.readingarts.com.
