Popular actress Dani Harmer is set to release her debut signle later this month.
Dani, who lives in Crown Wood, might be best known for her role as Tracy Beaker but she will be striking out on her own when Free is released on Wednesday, May 25.
Free is the theme tune to sitcom Dani's House, in which Dani plays a 17-year-old actress.
A follow-on from the Tracy Beaker series, in which Dani first found fame aged just 12, called Beaker’s Back, has also recently been commissioned.
The BBC sequel will show Tracy’s return to the care home as a carer.
Dani, 20, said: “I’m really excited but it is quite nerve-wracking.
“I’ve always sung and stuff but I never thought about it as a career until I was approached. My mum always said I could sing but I just thought she was biased.”
The single is taken from Dani’s album, which is a blend of pop, rock and dance.
Dani, who went to Wildridings Primary School, is being managed by Daniel Glatman, the former manager of boy band sensation Blue who has high hopes for her.
Daniel said: “There is no doubt that Dani Harmer is an absolute star and is going to be huge.
“The UK has finally produced an answer to Hanna Montana and Miley Cyrus!”
Dani added: “It’s quite nerve-wracking not having anything to hide behind, like acting, but when I am singing it’s like I’m
playing another character – it’s not like I’d just burst into song in real life.”
Despite her busy career, which means she spends much of her time up in Scotland filming Dani’s House, she still gets time to pop back to Bracknell to catch up with her mum, dad and little sister Betsy, 15.
“They’ve listened to the album and they really liked it, they are really proud of me,” added Dani.
“I thought they’d say they liked it anyway but they really did like it!
“My sister is really proud of me and she’s really supportive, because it must be difficult to have an older sister who takes over the limelight, so she’s really cool.
“She likes it when I get her signed McFly albums as well!”
