Reading’s 3Bs Bar/Cafe has just embarked on a rolling programme of live residencies showcasing local bands and DJs.

Among those chosen for the coming winter are The Bandinis, The Quotes, The Jamie Howell Band and the Jamie Howell Trio.

The 3Bs has been a much-loved live music and entertainment venue for more than 20 years and is in Friar Street. The bar is open Wednesdays through to Saturdays.

Highlights for the rest of this month include:

Every Wednesday – Open mic night with Brian Day

Every Friday – DJs Pete Wheeler, Toilet Boy or DJ Amma playing chill-out music from 8-11pm

Thursday – The Jamie Howell Trio (Jazz)

Saturday – The Quotes (Indie)

Thursday, November 27 – Acoustic (Obviously), an acoustic night hosted by Lorraine

Saturday, November 29 – Steve Welsh, Rat Pack/lounge singer

Ben Smith, James Ashby, Liam Barnes and Josh Bacon are The Quotes.

Their self-titled debut album was released in September to a sell-out crowd at South Street in Reading.

The band have played in many venues in and around Reading and London including Camden Barfly, The Cobden Club, The Oakford Social Club, Plug and Play, South Street, The Walkabout and Purple Turtle.

They say that their musical references include The Beatles,

Kings Of Leon, The Who, Jimi,

Dylan, Cash, Zeppelin, Bloc Party, Rage and the Chilis. You can catch them at the 3Bs on Saturday, November 22.

On Thursday, The Jamie Howell Trio play their own interpretation of standards from the great American songbook through bebop to jazz funk and beyond with Jamie Howell (guitar), Phil Berry (double-bass) and Fabio Iacono (drums).

The Friday Chillout DJs offer the best laid back sounds of all genres from DJs Amma, Toilet Boy and Pete Wheeler, while Acoustic (Obviously) and Steve Welsh finish off the month on Thursday, November 27 and Saturday, November 29, respectively.
